ABSENCE" brings us a big tree with a golden trunk, which bark has been made in reliefs, and is located in front of a prominent sky (like all the ones in this series). This sky has been painted as the entire base of the artwork.
We see a female human figure holding her heart on one branch of the tree. This heart has been made in the same golden color as the tree, and shows a volume which gets out of the canvas.
In the same way as in all the artworks of the Souls and Bodies Series, the human figure has been made in charcoal representing the permanent construction and volatility of what is corporeal. 
The sky somehow has a role of ocean as well, framing the tree whose branches are covered with leaves that overflow the artwork in its upper part, while the human figure observes, perhaps without looking, what could be found under the tree, or where the tree could have its roots.
