Red # 2
Red # 2
With an unseen inner-smile, the beetle carried on its journey (...). It had decided that stones were not to its liking.
― Stephen Craig
"RED # 2" shows the initial tension that appears in the the upper left corner of "RED # 1".
On this abstract base, which presents important reliefs, this initial tension can be seen somehow increased in terms of the reliefs size which have been executed in a very dark color -practically black-. The use of the golden color is also important here and is penetrated by the red tones of the artwork, and merged with a very dark red that almost reaches the color black.
Brushstrokes show light and and shadow between the reliefs that surrounds a very large beetle in the lower right corner, which could be coming out of the artwork, flowing in "chi" or "nagare", through these undulations that appear to the right side of the job. (GROUP: ORIGINS AND SURVIVAL)
