Red # 4

Red # 4

On a certain moment, near the pond, while lifting a stone, I saw a beetle and after observing it for a long time, I realized that we had some things in common.

― Juan José Millás

"RED # 4" starts a new group in this series ("BECOMING" group). As we can see, this artwork does not show tensions or flowing undulations on its abstract base but there are waves in relief that form semicircles in its upper part.
These multiple waves, which expand from the upper part of the artwork towards its center, end above a chrysanthemum which petals and leaves have been executed in detail just in its lower part, as its remaining one shows naked brushstrokes as voluntary and explicit way of painting it.
A single scarab, executed figuratively, is dropped on the chrysanthemum, while the color red also falls on the artwork in a fluid way.
